Organized by the NAREIM Compensation Committee, this virtual meeting is intended to help you reconnect with peers and discuss year-end 2025 compensation and carried interest trends and retention strategies for 2026. 

Formatted as a live pulse survey and whole-room Q&A, this is your opportunity to share ideas and solutions, and ask detailed questions of peers.

Once registered, guests will be sent a calendar invitation with a Zoom link directly by NAREIM.

Note, only members of NAREIM's Executive Officer and Talent Management/HR groups will be eligible to participate. This meeting is not open to other functional groups. NAREIM reserves the right to refuse entry to any person at any time.

2:25pm: Retention Practices for 2025/26: What is Changing & What is Having an Impact?
In a downmarket, how are real estate investment management firms retaining key talent with little to no promote? How are firms innovating through real estate cycles? 

  • Carried interest allocations for newly raised vehicles. Have firms adjusted their approach to carried interest allocations over the past 2-3 years? If so, how (e.g., broader eligibility, narrower eligibility, reallocation of points toward or away from certain functions/levels)? How do firms align carried interest allocations with value creation during tougher fundraising periods? 

  • Retention for senior leaders. What are the key tools for retaining key personnel in today's market? 

  • Communication strategies in 2025/26. How are firms communicating compensation and carried interest trends as they look to year-end 2025 and Q1 2026? How will firms weave these trends into year-end compensation discussions? 

  • Compensation trends & innovation. How are firms innovating in terms of non-compensation awards? What is proving impactful in terms of retention?
